Skinny Legs - something everyone should experience once, then again and again and again
The New Ashley's
Roti King
The Beach Bar
Re-opened New Year’s Eve 2019, the island welcomed back an old favorite after over 2 years. The bar has been rebuilt with a little more space all around, nice Brazilian hardwood, a new webcam (installed by Steve), as well as a new, larger kitchen with an updated menu. The Beach Bar on St. John is one of the best places to just sit and hang out overlooking Cruz Bay and many nights listen to some great live music.
Joe's Rum Hut
Finally - 850+ days after Hurricane Maria swept her 2nd CAT5 punch to St. John - Joe’s Rum Hut opened back up in 2020 after a complete rebuild. They are working to expand their menu and seating in early 2020. Great place for a stop after a day charter or Happy Hour to watch the sun go down over Cruz Bay!
ZoZo's at Caneel Bay
Sosa's Food Truck
If you want a quick snack on the go for breakfast, or a wonderful local island lunch of stewed goat, fall-off-the-bone chicken, and sometimes beef with some rice, coleslaw or even potatoes, stop into Sosa’s 7 days a week between 6a and 6p. She has a nice selection of bottled drinks and a few cold beers. Get it for takeout or enjoy your meal in the shade in her covered outdoor dining area.
Pizzabar in Paradise
Open in-season, Tuesday through Saturdays from 4p - 9p, this Boston-style Pizza bar has pizza, calzones, salad, beer, wine and cocktails in the Shipwreck Landing area on the southern end of Coral Bay. Perfect for an afternoon stop after a hike out Ram Head and an afternoon on a secluded beach at the end of the road.
Caribbean Oasis
Ekaete Pink Corner
Pronounced “‘Eh-Kay-Et-A,’ this new “Local Restaurant” has a selection of Paté for drive up, a full bar, as well as lunch and dinner (not in storm season) daily. They have homemade ice cream and fruit smoothies too! Consider stopping by for a morning snack on the way out to Lameshur, or for lunch or dinner on the way back through Coral Bay.
They have a great outdoor bar and a very cute and comfortable indoor dining room w/ goat & chicken curry,
Bajo el Sol
Coffee Bar. Wine Bar. Dessert Bar. Local Art Galley. Crafts & Jewelry. We know it sounds like a lot and all over the board, but Bajo el Sol is worth stopping into on each trip to St. John. Enjoy a taste of wine and shop through their unique gallery
Hercules Paté Delight
Open super early (5am) most days, Hercules is a great place to get a morning egg sandwich or paté to start the day - or load up before heading out on a boat trip or long beach day.
Uncle Joes BBQ
Right next to the Customs dock in Cruz Bay, Uncle Joe’s BBQ is a great place to get some chicken and/or ribs with a couple of sides (cole slaw, rice & beans, etc) to eat there or pre-order and bring back to the villa.
Lime Out
The mini nautical version of Lime Out, this floating taco shack & bar is towed into Hansen Bay each day and opens at 11am serving delicious drinks and some of the best tacos you will find in the Virgin Islands. Boats pull up alongside, dinghies come over from nearby charter sailboats and most importantly, St. John visitors can drive out to Hansen Bay, pay the $3 fee for parking, and rent a kayak or paddle board (or bring a previously rented one from say Virgin Islands Expedition Co.) and paddle out. Sit yourself on one of the underwater seats or belly up (under water) to the floating platform, order a drink and some tacos, and enjoy a truly unique St. John experience. Think of it as a deuced up Angel’s Rest mixed together with Soggy Dollar Bar.
St. John Scoops
I scream, you scream, we all scream for St. John Scoops! The perfect afternoon stop after a day at the beach, St. John Scoops has a rotating menu of house-made flavors. Our favorites include salted caramel and butter pecan, but the painkiller (with booze) is also a winner.
Irie Pops
Chocolate Sea Salt. Strawberry Limeade. Pina Colada. How to choose? Load up a cooler of these locally made ice pops and enjoy them at the villa all week! Irie Pops offers organic, all-natural, dairy-free treats from their cute new shop on the way to the North Shore Road. They also have beer & water, sunscreen, and some great Irie schwag.
Maho Crossroads
Opened in late 2018, Maho Crossroads is a kind of mini beach oasis in the sand that is evolving across the road from the west end of Maho Bay. With over a dozen parking spots, a tiki bar, small clothing shop, and food van, you can spend the day relaxing on Maho then walk down for a snack and a drink and lunch and talk with some fellow St. John lovers - then return to your beach chair and enjoy the view.
Shambles
Woody's Seafood Saloon
Woody’s is a Cruz Bay staple, best know for its happy hour. From 3-6pm each day, patrons squeeze into their curbside tables for drinks and some bar food. Shark bites are Steve’s favorite!
High Tide
High Tide is just steps from the ferry dock and a great spot for that first island drink! It’s open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and happy hour. The menu has something for everyone.
