Ted Robinson’s business card says “St. John’s Most Unique Dining Experience.” In early March of 2020, we were part of a small, 4-person dinner at a friend’s villa in Coral Bay - he lived up to his word. Ted brings all of his own equipment, tables, and all the food he plans to cook for you. We started with tuna dumplings, moved on to an iron-skillet-baked tomato herb focaccia and split dishes of rock lobster w/ bacon and scallops on mushrooms and hash. After we enjoyed a light salad with tomatoes and greens. Then came the entrees! Two each of Mahi wrapped in sliced potatoes and 2 x Filet Mignon. Two and a half hours in, he let us rest a bit and brought out 2 types of dessert: molten chocolate cake and cookies with ice cream and berries.
Ted has his own garden, sources his products locally, and takes care of everything (including clearing our plates and utensils between each course). He literally leaves the kitchen cleaner than when he left it - and does it all with a smile.
Try him for a special dinner at Great Expectations during your next stay - you will not be disappointed.
